01The Service

+81 Builders runs hackathons, build nights and other events for people building with AI in Tokyo. The website lists our events, lets you sign in, and lets you submit projects to our hackathons. Event registration happens on Luma, under Luma’s own terms.

02Who can use it

You can use the Service if you can form a binding agreement where you live. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, both to use your account and to take part in our events.

03Your account

You sign in with a GitHub or Google account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep that account secure. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms.

04Project submissions

• You keep ownership. Your project, code and content stay yours.
• You must have the right to submit. Your teammates must agree to the submission, and anything else you include (code, images, music, data) must be yours to use or properly licensed.
• Permission for us. You give us a free, non-exclusive licence to store and review your submission, and to share it with that event’s judges and the sponsors involved in judging or prizes.
• Publishing only with permission. If your team agrees, we may also show your project, team names, video and links on this website and in our announcements about the event. You can ask us to take it down at any time.

05Events, judging and prizes

Each event may have its own rules, published on its event page. Where they differ from these terms, the event rules apply to that event. Judges’ decisions are final. Prizes are awarded as the event rules describe, and we may disqualify a submission that breaks the rules or these terms.

06What you must not do

• Break the law, or infringe anyone else’s rights, including copyright and privacy.
• Harass, threaten or discriminate against other people, online or at our events.
• Pretend to be someone else, or submit work that isn’t your team’s.
• Upload malware, or attempt to break into, overload or disrupt the Service.
• Scrape the Service, or use it to send spam.

07Other services and links

The Service links to and relies on other services such as Luma, Discord, GitHub and Google. Your use of them is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for their content or how they work.

08Our content

The +81 Builders name and logo, and the website’s design, text and artwork, belong to us or our licensors. Please don’t use them in a way that suggests we endorse you without our permission.

09Disclaimer

We provide the Service “as is”. We do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.

10Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, special or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the Service. This does not limit our liability for loss caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under the laws of Japan, including the Consumer Contract Act.

11Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date. For significant changes we will also tell you by email or on the website before they take effect. If you continue to use the Service after that, you accept the updated terms.

12Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any dispute about them.
